Are you a writer? Whether or not you’re published, you can benefit from this supportive writer’s group. Listen to informative talks on a variety of writing-related topics and meet other writers and aspiring writers. Led by local author/editor Brian Forrester. For ages 13+.

Topic: What’s Your Book About? Crafting Your Elevator Pitch
Ever stumble through the dreaded “What’s your book about?” question? Or do you freeze when someone asks, “Why should I read it?” If distilling your novel into a short pitch feels impossible, you’re not alone.
In this practical workshop, you’ll learn how to sharpen your story idea into a captivating one-liner you can use at book festivals, pitch sessions, or in line at Starbucks.

You’ll learn how to:
• Identify the heart of your story in one sentence
• Write a pitch that sounds natural, not salesy
• Tailor your pitch for agents, readers, or friends
• Use your pitch as a writing compass while drafting
• Avoid common mistakes that confuse rather than hook

This free Williamsburg Regional Library workshop is led by Brian Forrester, the author of two young adult novels and an award-winning copywriter for a Williamsburg marketing agency. His most recent book is Color The Sky With Song.
