The American Revolution was a pivotal time for Indigenous peoples of the eastern woodlands, the outcomes of which had important and long-lasting effects. The conflict represented a continuation of decades of struggle for independence for many Indigenous peoples who continually strived to maintain safety and autonomy during everchanging circumstances. This presentation will examine the participation of and effects on various Indigenous nations, and the consequences that resulted from this crucial period in American history.
Presented by Travis Henline, Curator of Indigenous History and Culture at the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation.
