|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 2:00 pm on Thursday, repeating until July 28, 2022

Now in its 19th year, the Throwback Thursday Film Series screens a variety of classic movies for an adult audience.

July Theme: The Early Music of Composer John Williams

July 7: None but the Brave (1965), 2:00-3:50 p.m.
Frank Sinatra directed and stars in this film about a group of Japanese and American soldiers stranded on a tiny Pacific island during WWII and forced to work together in order to survive. This is one of the early film scores by the now famous John Williams, billed as “Johnny” Williams. NR 1 hour 46 minutes

July 14: Penelope (1966), 2:00-3:40 p.m.
Natalie Wood plays a young woman with a compulsion to steal in this kooky comedy. The plot is silly, but Natalie looks lovely in her Edith Head couture. The film is directed by Arthur Hiller and costars Ian Bannen and Dick Shawn with “Johnny” Williams providing the score and title song. NR 1 hour 37 minutes

July 21: Valley of the Dolls (1967), 2:00-4:05 p.m.
This delightfully trashy film about the hard-knock lives of three aspiring actresses stars Patty Duke, Susan Hayward, and Sharon Tate. Based on the notorious bestseller by Jacqueline Susann, the film marks the first time that a score by composer John Williams received an Oscar nomination. Over his long career, he has received 52 Oscar nominations. PG-13, 2 hours 3 minutes

July 28: The Sugarland Express (1974), 2:00-3:50 p.m.
In Steven Spielberg’ s first big screen film, a woman (Goldie Hawn) and her outlaw husband try to reunite with their child while on the run from the law. Williams has since scored all but five of Mr. Spielberg’s movies. PG-13, 1 hour 50 minutes

Free admission. Doors open 1 hour prior to showtime.
