Explore classic and contemporary fiction and nonfiction from around the world. This group will sample critically acclaimed and prize-winning titles with open and inclusive discussion. Turning Pages meets the third Tuesday of every month.
Join us in-person or on Zoom for this month’s discussion of The Island of Missing Trees, by Elif Shafak. The divided island of Cyprus makes the forbidden relationship between a Greek boy and a Turkish girl dangerous. Reunited years later, they bring a fig tree to England, knowing that it is probably the only sign of home they’ll ever have. The tree serves as the memory of all that was lost on Cyprus, a witness to the family’s relationships, and a guide to the natural world invisible to humans.
